REASONS TO HIRE THE RED DESERT RAMBLERS FOR CONCERTS OR COMMUNITY EVENTS

"
We take requests!"

-The Ramblers earned national acclaim as the first, and only Utah band (and I was the first and only hammered dulcimer player) ever hired to perform at the International Bluegrass Music Association Fan Festival in Nashville. We have been rehired (or had offers) at every festival we’ve played, including 4 years in a row at Darrington, 5 years for Bannock County, Pickin’ in the Pines in Flagstaff, countless times at Logandale (Southern Nevada Bluegrass Association), Bluegrass in the Barn (Nampa), Hard Times (Montana)and more.

-state champions in banjo and dulcimer. Sharon (dulcimer) and Richard (mandolin) have also been honored to judge the Utah State Nationally affiliated instrument contests for all instruments.

-Having a hammered dulcimer in the band distinguishes us from other bluegrass bands.

-personable and genuine stage presence with professional dress.

-The Ramblers appeal to a diverse, and intergenerational crowd because we vary our music through different genres. Promoters have input on the slant of the show. We play
bluegrass, classic-country and swing music.

-When children are present add a few sing-a-long numbers.

-Sharon, has booked a successful concert series monthly since 1999. The series has never lost money. In addition she has booked mainstream shows, bluegrass festivals in Wyoming, and Utah, house concerts, assemblies and community events. We know and respect the need for time flexibility to make promoters job easier. We have perspective on promoter and audience needs and are a boon from both musical and promotional standpoints. Steve and Dave have booked many festivals (ongoing) as well. Please see list on the bookings page.

-We can be hired as a duo-quintet to meet your budget needs.

OUT OF STATE/RURAL UTAH AREAS

-Sharon was awarded a Bluegrass in the Schools Grant to facilitate outreach and education through the International Bluegrass Music Association. Our workshop credentials are excellent. Sharon taught elementary school (including music) for 25 years, Richard counselled high school for 35 years and taught adult education, Steve teaches skiing to early childhood students. Dave’s focused on mentoring teenagers interested in bluegrass and swing music. We have a wide range of workshops listed on our outreach page. Settings include assemblies (elementary through college), libraries, nursing homes, meet and greet question sessions, facilitating a jam for community musicians, Traditional American sing-a-long.
